CDL-A40 Classroom & Behind-the-Wheel Training
If you’re starting from scratch, this course is designed to help you obtain your Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) as quickly as possible. The program includes two full days of classroom lecture in preparation for the written Class A General Knowledge Test at DMV and the Pre-Trip Vehicle Inspection practical test. Road Safety is covered in-depth, with emphasis on Risk Assessment, Hazard Avoidance, Pre-Trip Vehicle Inspection and Driver’s Daily Logs.
After passing the DMV Class A General Knowledge Test and a Department of Transportation (DOT) physical, students will contact instructors to schedule twenty-one (21) hours of one-on-one training, which includes: Behind-the-Wheel vehicle operation, Pre-Trip Vehicle Inspection, and intensive Backing Drills. Once the student and instructor are confident of student readiness, instructor will schedule a test date and accompany the student in a DSLCC vehicle to the DMV testing site for the test.
Classroom & Pre-Trip: 16 hours
Behind-the-Wheel: 21 hours
DMV Test: 3 hours
Total Instruction: 40 hours
- Behind-the-Wheel training and testing must be completed within six (6) months of instruction start date.
- Student must possess a valid CDL learner’s permit, DOT physical and complete a minimum pre-trip inspection class of one hour prior to operating a DSLCC vehicle and/or attempting DMV test.
