In this course, students will learn more advanced casting techniques such as roll casting, shooting line, bow and arrow hast, single haul, double haul, “S” cast, and tension cast. We will cover wading safety, basics of reading the water, and fishing techniques such as fishing dry flies, nymphing, and fishing streamers. Students will be introduced to two-fly rigs and to fishing poppers for bass and sunfish.
 
Participants 16 years and older must have a valid fishing license. Please contact the instructors with questions or if they need to borrow a fly rod. Class will be held initially in the DSLCC gymnasium and will then move to the Jackson River.
 
Prerequisite: Completion of Introduction to Fly Fishing or a beginning fly angler who can overhand cast and false cast but is interested in learning more advanced skills and techniques.
